What You Can Do with InfoWater UDF

  • Manage Systematic Flushing

    InfoWater UDF offers flexibility and efficiency when you need to remove stagnant water and mineral and sediment deposits that have accumulated over time. UDF:

    • Identifies which fire hydrants and water main valves need manipulating
    • Computes minimum flushing time, total flushing volume and pipe length, flushing velocity of every pipe in the sequence, and shear stress for every pipe in the sequence

    Unidirectional flushing results in water flowing toward the hydrant in only one direction resulting in higher flow velocity, more scouring and better cleaning of the pipes with less water use:

  • Support your Field Crews with Field Journal (Flush Book)

    The Field Journal (flush book) is an extension to InfoWater UDF that supports field crews in implementing unidirectional flushing. For each flush sequence, it shows the fire hydrants and valves that need to be manipulated for each flush sequence. It reports important information such as pressure and flow, flushing volume, flushing duration, and water quality. And it provides technical data sheets.

  • Scour Sediment Deposits and Biofilm

    Close valves and open hydrants to create a one-way flow in your mains of 5-6 ft/sec, maximizing shear velocity near the pipe wall. This produces a scouring action that effectively removes sediment deposits and biofilm.

  • Improve Water Quality

    InfoWater UDF helps improve water quality by restoring the disinfectant residual, reducing bacterial regrowth, dislodging biofilms, removing sediments and deposits, controlling corrosion, restoring flows and pressures, eliminating taste and odor problems, and reducing disinfectant demand throughout the distribution system.
