The Latest Features in MicroDrainage

MicroDrainage 2018.1 takes a great step forward in terms of interoperability. The latest release makes it easier to streamline processes and ultimately save time, money and resources.

MicroDrainage 2018.1 enables more collaborative teamwork – a key goal of Building Information Modelling (BIM). New functionality enhances and simplifies processes, workflows and interoperability to enable greater clarity and better communication in the design, construction and management of drainage systems.


  • Enhanced Autodesk AutoCAD® Civil 3D® Integration

    It is now possible to export and import drainage networks as Pipe Networks directly to AutoCAD® Civil 3D® from DrawNet (CAD). Pipes, conduits, manholes, open sections and surfaces are all included as part of this new functionality and are represented by smart Civil3D objects such as Pipe Network Parts and Structures, Surfaces and Corridors.
    By creating intelligent links between Civil 3D and MicroDrainage files, changes can be made in either package and updated in the other at the click of a button. This protects the integrity of data when ‘round tripping’ and removes the need to handle discrepancies between network models in different file formats.

  • IFC Export capability

    It is now possible to export MicroDrainage files to Industry Foundation Classes (.IFC) file format. This greatly improves communication and clarity between MicroDrainage 2018.1 and other widely used software packages as IFC is a common open file format used by a variety of BIM-related software packages.
    This data rich model contains all the design and classification data and means that 3D representations of the network can be created . As well providing a means for the 3D representation of drainage networks within larger, multi-disciplinary BIM models, the IFC format can store all the hydraulic design and material classification detail necessary for approval and construction.

  • MDSuDS Underdrain Outlet Condition

    The addition of underdrain outlet types to MDSuDS means subsurface flows can now connect directly to other subsurface elements of downstream SuDS structures. Direct connection of underdrain flows to surface or subsurface elements of downstream structures gives a truer representation for more accurate analysis of the complex flow paths through SUDS treatment trains.

  • HADDMS Schedules

    MicroDrainage 2018.1 now features a specific export function which creates a .csv file of the series of export schedules to populate information required by the Highways Agency Drainage Data Management System (HADDMS). Now it is easier to provide key model deliverables, saving time while minimising data loss and improving data accuracy.
