MicroDrainage is a modular product. Build the application that best suits your drainage design needs by choosing from the modules described below.
System 1 - drainage design module
System 1 is the drainage design module in MicroDrainage. Using intuitive spreadsheet-based data entry, System 1 gives you the capability to design Storm and Foul Networks, and includes production of manhole and pipeline schedules, and longsections.
System 1 can be used alone or in combination with other modules: DrawNet, QuOST, Simulation and APT.
MDSuDS - the SuDS design solution
MDSuDS provides a complete SuDS design and analysis solution with Flow Through Structures technology. It leads you through a design process for SuDS from conceptual design – including water quality – to hydraulic flow analysis.
MDSuDS can be used alone or combined with APT and FloodFlow.
Simulation - hydrograph analysis
Simulation models the behaviour of your controls and storage/infiltration structures during extreme rainfall events when they are overloaded.
Simulation uses networks created in System 1, DrawNet and DrawNet CAD. It can be used with APT, Source Control, CASDeF and FloodFlow.
Source Control - design, size and test storage structures
Source Control estimates storage, so infiltration structures can be sized quickly and accurately.
It employs a full hydrograph method to design, size and test storage structures. Source Control calculates green field runoff rates as required by the Code for Sustainable Homes.
Source Control can be used alone or with Simulation, APT and CASDeF.
APT - Advanced Productivity Tools
APT provides powerful additional capabilities, like editing Network Details, rainfall Wizards, return period analysis, design audit, climate change, and illustrating 3D flood flow paths for exceedance.
APT extends across other MicroDrainage modules, mainly Simulation but also System 1, DrawNet, and Source Control.
CASDeF - Computer Aided Simulation Design Framework
CASDeF solves hydraulic problems within a drainage system. It calculates storage and pipe sizing for optimized flow controls and storage & infiltration structures. Replace guess work and trial and error with fast, accurate solutions and gain complete control over the design and analysis process.
CASDeF extends across Simulation and Source Control and requires APT.
DrawNet & DrawNet (CAD)
Live, interactive, graphical design interface.
DrawNet brings the functionality of System 1 into a live, fully interactive graphical interface, rather than entering data in spreadsheets.
DrawNet (CAD) provides an interactive AutoCAD or Civil 3D interface, so you can design and edit drainage layouts graphically within the AutoCAD environment.
DrawNet works with APT and FloodFlow and requires a full AutoCAD version to use a DrawNet (CAD) interface.
FloodFlow - Advanced 2D analysis of flood flow paths
FloodFlow calculates flow paths across a digital terrain model. It returns graphical results. It’s a powerful design tool that allows flood mitigation measures to be considered at the outline stage.
To use FloodFlow you need APT. It also adds functionality to DrawNet and Simulation.
QuOST - Automatic project pricing
QuOST takes the drainage design data generated in MicroDrainage and automates the processes of taking off and pricing a project. You can instantly compare the cost of schemes by taking into account all of the elements – like storage volumes and flow controls – within an integrated sustainable drainage system.
QuOST runs on data generated in System 1, DrawNet, Source Control and Simulation.
Channel - determine water levels in open channels
Channel is a backwater step method for determining the water levels in open channels. Step levels are commonly used to determine backwater curves.
Where flow becomes super-critical (or rapid), Channel outputs a depth estimate based on stage discharge. Backwater analysis is continued upstream when the flow becomes sub-critical (or tranquil) again.
