The Creation of Europe’s First Smart Canal

Thursday 29th April | 13:00 BST

Join us to hear from Peter Robinson, Head of Engineering at Scottish Canals, to learn about pioneering first – the creation of Europe’s First Smart Canal

The North Glasgow Integrated Water Management System (NGIWMS) built in partnership with AECOM is a pioneering drainage system that leverages the 250-year-old Forth & Clyde Canal and 21st-century Digital Twin technology from Innovyze to mitigate flood risk

Live meteorological forecasting data and sensors enable real-time surface water management to unlock 110 hectares across the north of Glasgow for investment, regeneration, and development.

Join us to learn more about the transformation of the canal into an intelligent water management system that proactively reduces flood risk, provides surface water storage when required, and enhances the environment for local communities.
