Water Main Replacement and Assessment Prioritization using InfoAsset Planner

With over 2,800 miles of water main and 70,000 pipe segments in WaterOne’s GIS system, it can be a difficult task to prioritize which distribution water mains to replace or which transmission main to inspect each year. Main breaks, material, size, proximity to structures, valve criticality, and operational impact are just a few of the factors WaterOne considers in its replacement and condition assessment programs. In 2019 WaterOne purchased InfoAsset Planner, an Innovyze software, to provide a more robust approach to score each pipe segment based on the established criteria and assign it an overall risk score.

This On-Demand Water Talks presentation details how WaterOne uses the new software and scoring method to assess the risk of all distribution and transmission water mains in their system.
